Dr. Monica Chmiel
Dr. Chmiel was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors. She continued her education receiving her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2004 at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York. Dr. Chmiel attended the orthodontic program at the University of California San Francisco, receiving her Master of Science degree in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences and a specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. Following her residency, Dr. Chmiel practiced in the Bay Area for almost a decade before opening her own practice. She is an active member of many professional affiliations including: American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Francisco Dental Society, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists. Her lifelong commitment to learning involves spending significant time attending conferences and continuing education courses to continue to provide the most advanced treatment possible. She strives to create a positive environment where patients are happy and feel well taken care of. Her passion is to educate, motivate and communicate with patients to achieve healthy lasting bites and beautiful smiles together.
Dr. Chmiel was an avid runner and participated in both the Philadelphia and New York City marathons. Running the San Francisco half marathon was a yearly tradition with the exception of the years her children were born. Now she enjoys her time on her Peloton–ask her who her favorite instructor is. Spending time with her family is her favorite thing to do. Her other interests include reading, listening to podcasts, her Calm app and playing with her two Ragdoll kittens-Shasta and Sierra.
